
About SRIP 2027
The Scottish Rural & Islands Parliament is the UK’s largest participative democratic assembly for rural and island communities.
The SRIP creates space for people from across rural and island Scotland to:
- Share ideas and experiences
- Explore solutions to rural challenges
- Connect with communities and organisations
- Influence policy and decision-making
- Celebrate community-led innovation
- Build partnerships and future collaborations
Bringing together communities, organisations, activists, policymakers, businesses and young people from across Scotland, the 2027 SRIP will continue the Parliament’s mission to strengthen rural and island voices and support community-led action. The 2027 SRIP will build on the success and legacy of previous Parliaments while creating new opportunities for dialogue, creativity and action.

What to expect
The programme for SRIP 2027 is currently being developed in partnership with communities and organisations from across Scotland. Planned programme elements include:

Interactive workshops and participatory discussions exploring the opportunities and challenges facing rural and island communities.
🚶♀️ Study visits
Visits to local projects and initiatives showcasing community-led innovation, sustainability and rural resilience.
🤝 Networking and collaboration
Opportunities for delegates to build new relationships, partnerships and connections across sectors and regions.
🎭 Culture and creativity
Music, storytelling, heritage, food and creative activities celebrating rural and island Scotland.
🌱 Youth participation
The Scottish Rural & Islands Youth Parliament will provide dedicated opportunities for young people to shape conversations and influence future action.
🏛️ Policy and decision-maker engagement
Opportunities for direct dialogue with policymakers, elected representatives and national organisations.
Emerging themes
While the final theme for SRIP 2027 is still being developed, early conversations have highlighted several important topics affecting rural and island Scotland, including:

- Cost of living and fuel poverty
